Sustainability

At JG Developers, sustainability is approached through practical design choices, responsible procurement and long-term building performance.

Led by architects and engineers, our projects integrate environmental considerations from the earliest design stages. Before introducing mechanical systems, we focus on passive strategies such as natural light, cross ventilation, insulation and careful envelope detailing. These principles help create comfortable internal environments while reducing ongoing energy demand.

Material sourcing is a key part of our process. Approximately 80 percent of materials used on our projects are sourced within a 200 mile radius of each site. We prioritise UK suppliers and local merchants wherever possible, reducing transport distances and improving site efficiency. Specialist elements such as our in-house aluminium systems and bespoke joinery are designed for durability, repairability and long service life.

Thermal performance is addressed through construction quality and detailing. This includes upgraded insulation, controlled junctions and the use of thermal breaks in aluminium systems to limit heat loss and condensation. These measures improve comfort and contribute to consistent internal temperatures throughout the year.

By delivering design and construction within one integrated team, we maintain control over detailing, quantities and sequencing. This reduces unnecessary waste, avoids abortive work and ensures that design intent is carried through to completion.

JG Developers has extensive experience working with existing buildings, including listed properties and homes in conservation areas. Retaining and upgrading existing fabric is a fundamental part of responsible construction. Our approach focuses on improving performance and usability while respecting the character and integrity of the original structure.
